Author of Dishrags to Dirtbags
Dishrags to Dirtbags, Brooke Santina’s first novel, tells the story of a meek housewife’s plunge into the often dangerous and mostly crazy world of law enforcement.
As the book finally hits shelves and e-readers, she couldn’t be more excited. A second-generation native Nevadan, Santina is a wife, mother, and deputy sheriff by day, and a fiction writer by night (and on the weekends, holidays, and every other spare moment).
All her life, she had wished that there was something special she could offer the world, something marketable, but believed that nothing about her was unique. Then she entered the police academy and took a job working in a jail. While there, she found that the people in her life were fascinated by her stories of even the most mundane day-to-day work experiences. This gave her the idea of writing a book.
Santina earned a degree in speech communications from the University of Nevada, Reno and worked for four years as the spokesperson for the largest law enforcement agency in Northern Nevada. As a writer and public speaker, she’s passionate about sharing her message of empowerment and positive change with readers.
“My novel is my offering,” says Santina. “It’s truly a book nobody else could write, and it’s based both on my knowledge of the police world and my desire to empower others to take chances.”
Santina dedicates Dishrags to Dirtbags to anyone who doubts their potential or their ability to achieve it.
She is already hard at work on her second novel, a follow-up to Dishrags to Dirtbags.
